Upcon™ upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs)

Photostable and brightly fluorescent upconverting nanoparticles for biomolecule detection

The bright and photostable Upcon upconverting nanoparticles (UCNP) provide several advantages over traditional fluorescent labels, including conventional fluorophores or quantum dots, the main ones being high sensitivity and zero autofluorescence. Upcon UCNP technology is utilized together with Upcon readers.

Upcon UCNPs are available as functionalized or biomolecule conjugates. For instance, nanoparticles can be carboxylated or conjugated to streptavidin or an antibody of your choice. Several options are available with regards to the size and coating of UCNPs—a fundamental aspect to be considered in rendering the particles hydrophilic.

Embedded lanthanide ions provide Upcon UCNPs the favorable properties of stable and bright emission, discrete emission bands, and long emission lifetime. Upcon UCNPs are ideal for quantitative lateral flow (LF) assays, bioaffinity assays, microscopy, and imaging.
